Wellington had a phenomenal weekend in Orlando at the National Civics & Debate Championship. In Congress, Lauren Beer placed 17th out of nearly 250 students, Patrick McDermott placed 21st, and Ray Estevez 32nd. In Impromptu Speaking, Ahna Guillaume placed 32nd. In Extemporaneous Debate, Patrick McDermott went 6-0 and placed 13th. Coach Paul Gaba was recognized for his work as Florida Civics & Debate Initiative Tournament Coordinator, and met Florida Rep. Anna Eskamani, who judged a session of Congress (where Colin Gibson was the presiding officer.).
