Wellington Speech & Debate had an impressive day at the Southeast Florida Civics and Debate Initiative tournament in Boca Raton Saturday.
Melody Pratz placed 1st in Extemporaneous Debate, picket-fencing the event in the process, with Connor Mack taking 2nd and Liam Stines third.
Angelina Greco took 1st in Oral Interpretation, with Annabella Sabugo taking 2nd and Hannah Pardo 3rd.
Isabella Parissos won Impromptu Speaking her first time in the event.
In Congress, Ava Cassel placed 1st and Alexa Charlot 6th.
In addition, Wellington earned four new National Speech & Debate Association degrees over the weekend. Ewa Tryniszewski earned her Degree of Superior Distinction, surpassing 750 honor points. Ahna Guillaume earned the Degree of Special Distinction (500 points). Liam Stines earned his Degree of Excellence (150 points). And Hannah Pardo hit the 75-point plateau, earning her Degree of Honor and her varsity Debate letter.
