Wellington Speech & Debate continued its run of outstanding tournament results with its performance at the February 2023 PBCFL at Suncoast on Saturday.
In Duo Interpretation, Lauren Beer and Colin Gibson placed first overall.
In Oral Interpretation, Wellington took three of the top five spots: Anabella Sabugo placed second, Hannah Pahl third, and Olivia Winton fifth.
In Extemporaneous Speaking, Diego Pando took third.
Ewa Tryniszewski placed sixth in her Congress chamber and also earned a gavel as the top presiding officer.
Wellington earned five new National Speech & Debate Association degrees. Colin Gibson earned the Degree of Superior Distinction, surpassing 750 points. First-year debater Juliana Schuster earned her varsity letter and the Degree of Honor, while three other novices earned their Degree of Merit membership in the largest honor society in the world – Diego Calderon, Caitlyn Klimek, and Gabriela Velandis Parra.
