Upon returning from Orlando, members of Wellington Speech & Debate were guests at the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches luncheon, where MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough was the keynote speaker. In attendance were Ava Cassel, Paula Currea, Emma Gardner, Colin Gibson, Ahna Guillaume, Patrick McDermott, Paul Miller, Isabella Tombari, and Ewa Tryniszewski. Tombari asked Scarborough a question about the Platform Accountability and Transparency Act (PATA) which would permit the Federal Trade Commission to require disclosure of certain platform data directly to the public or to researchers if passed into law. The question was. “Would PATA be good or bad for social media, and the media in general?”
