Wellington Debate is hosting an organizational meeting THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 at 6:30 pm in the debate room (4-104). Your presence (both parents and students) would be greatly appreciated, as we are closing on on hosting the October 12 PBCFL tournament.
TOURNAMENT PARENT COORDINATORS: Sue Ann McDaniel and Leah Lagalo Silver
This is a huge fundraiser for our program; we estimate more than 500 students and 150 adult judges will converge on the campus of Wellington High School for the day, and that roughly 75 classrooms on our campus will be used. (In other words … virtually the entire campus will be bathed in debaters!)
It is very important that we have involved and caring parents volunteer to help with the “advance work” (which is what this meeting is geared toward), as well as on the day of the tournament. We will need parents to either donate food, snacks, beverages, possibly cash (so we can purchase needed items), or to work the day of the tournament. All debate students are expected to be involved with the tournament that weekend in some capacity, whether competing, judging, or volunteering. More information will be presented as we get closer to the date.
