Jaiden Lagalo-Blinston placed 21st overall in Dramatic Interpretation at the 2022 National Speech & Debate Association National Tournament in Louisville, KY, June 11-18. Lagalo-Blinston performed a 10-minute-long memorized cutting of “From Borsch to Burgers: A Cross-Cultural Memoir” by Ruslana Westerlund, a memoir from one of Ukraine’s new literary lights that tracks her journey from a little girl toiling in the potato fields of the Soviet Union to the shiny but sometimes foreign new world of America.
It was the first “live” in-person national tournament for Wellington Speech & Debate since 2019, due to COVID.
