More than 40 Red Dawn Debaters boarded a charter bus early Saturday, February 19, for an out-of-county Southeast Florida Civics & Debate Initiative tournament. More than half came back to Wellington with accoladed.

The group trip to Martin County High School was, for most of the first- and second-year competitors, their first-ever debate road trip, a combination team building and competition venture. When all was said and done, 20 Wellington students earned Top-6 honors, including nine first-place medals and five second-place medals.

Placing first were: Alexandra Versailles in Congress; Ana Guillaume in Oratory and Declamation; Anneliese Leclef in Dramatic Interpretation; Colin Gibson in Impromptu; Chiara Milazzi in Informative Speaking; Hannah Pahl in Oral Interpretation; Paula Currea in Lincoln Douglas Debate; and Simran Josan in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Placing second were: Addison Kurz in Congress;  Karola Ortiz Rodriguez in Program Oral Interpretation; Liam Stines in Extemporaneous Speaking; Olivia Winton in Declamation; and Madison Neltner in Oral Interpretation.

The Public Forum Debate team of Bailen Theriault and Hendrix Socha placed fourth, as did Congress students Page Segal and Emma Gardner. Danielle Beaulieu was fifth in Oral Interpretation, Patrick McDermott was fifth in Congress, and Andreanna Wellington was sixth in Oral Interpretation.
