Eleven Red Dawn Debaters have qualified for the 2021 National Catholic Forensic League’s virtual Grand National championship tournament, and two additional members of the program are alternate entries for the Memorial Day Weekend competition.
In Oral Interpretation, McKenna Wickers picket-fenced her five rounds of poetry and prose, placing first overall. Isabella Tombari also qualified in OI, and Harrison Winton is first alternate.
Three Wellington debaters qualified in Extemporaneous Speaking – Samuel Johnson, Gonzalo Pardo Zambrano, and Colin Gibson.
In Dramatic Performance, both Lillian Paulitz and Emma Stanfield qualified, while two students – Luis Gonzales-Mugaburu and KJ Benham – will compete in Declamation.
The Duo Interpretation team of Matthew McGann and Jaiden Lagalo-Blinston will also represent Wellington.
Daniel Melton is the first alternate in Original Oratory.
